Where did Bad Dream come from ?
Bad Dream came to life like Frankensteins monster as I recovered from major neck surgery in 2007. I couldn't sleep, grabbed a cup of coffee, took another pain killer, sat on the lounge and I started to make some strange notes with a magic writing implement. It was 4 in the morning when I started to write the very first notes and thus began a wonderfully creative process and a seriously dark journey.

The story was in part inspired by the music of my favourite Australian rock band, The Angels**. There are 3 songs of The Angels** from differenet albums that I have always liked playing back to back because I got a buzz from a little story I had built around them. It was dark and funky.
At the time I really didn't know where it was going. I had an idea and was just writing a story for myself. It was meant to be just for me but it grew and grew and took over my life (that and the painkillers). It was just a wickedly dark cathartic experience but as I healed the story grew into something more tangible.

After a few weeks I had a solid storyboard, a working title and then I started to fill in the detail. As the story evolved I realised there was so much more available for me to use. The drama became a musical.
The music I have woven through the show comes from a back catalogue of more than 30 years of wonderful works of The Angels**. It is a collection of instantly recognisable tunes, A-sides, B-sides, album tracks and rarities.

It is an amazingly tight adult drama which I have woven with the help of 30 years of amazing music. I guess it could be called a case of when Romeo and Juliet met the bastard nephew of Frankenfurter and The Phantom

Bad Dream
PLEASE NOTE :- **
The Angels are not involved in Bad Dream.
The story is in part inspired by their music.

In 2007 when I began writing there was no official Angels band performing.
There was The Original Angels Band
& Doc Neesons Angels.
The first full script to Bad Dream was completed in late 2008.
At around the same time an announcement was made that The Angels were reforming.

Spitfire Management have been aware of this project since 2008 and see no conflict of interest and believed it to be a project of good merit and one which the band need not be directly involved in after all it is not a story about the band or it's members. I thank Spitfire for their support.

I personally see it as a stand alone complimentary project and homage to the work and legacy of The Angels of which I have been a life long fan.
Over the last few years I have reworked the script and to this day I continue to shop it to interested parties but it is a tough gig.

I will not emailing the script to anyone who isn't in theatre or the bizz.
Full company and contact details must be provided.
         Keep rocking
